About Anthroposophy

Anthroposophy is a path of knowledge developed by Rudolf Steiner. It encourages individuals to unite spiritual insight with practical activity in education, agriculture, the arts and social life.  It is a path of inquiry rather than belief, seeking to deepen understanding of the human being and the world.

The word 'Anthroposophy' comes from the Greek (Anthropos meaning ‘man’ and Sophia meaning ‘wisdom’). But ‘anthroposophy’ can also be simply described as consciousness of our humanity.  Although the term was not coined by Rudolf Steiner himself, he applied it to his spiritual philosophy, and it has become virtually synonymous with the movement.

Anthroposophy has inspired initiatives in education, agriculture, medicine, the arts, social care and community development throughout the world.
